Overview
Almancy successfully completed the installation of a 5km underwater pipeline for the Saudi Water Authority, connecting a desalination plant to the mainland water distribution network. Our team managed the entire installation process, including seabed preparation, pipeline positioning, connection of sections, and concrete mattress placement for protection. The project was completed ahead of schedule and has significantly improved water supply capacity to the region.
Challenge
The pipeline route crossed varying seabed conditions including rocky areas and soft sediment. The installation needed to be completed within a tight timeframe before the seasonal weather changes would make marine operations difficult.
Solution
We conducted detailed seabed surveys to optimize the pipeline route and used specialized equipment for different seabed conditions. Multiple dive teams worked in coordination to prepare the seabed, position the pipeline, and secure it with concrete mattresses.
Results
The pipeline was successfully installed and tested, with all sections properly secured and protected. The project was completed 10 days ahead of schedule, allowing the water authority to begin operations before the challenging weather season.
